Venue Information
Gelanggang Pacuan Kuda Tegalwaton
Semarang Regency, Central Java
Tegalwaton sits in the middle of Tegalwaton village in Tengaran district, beside the Solo-Semarang road, with Mount Merbabu as a backdrop. The track opened in 2001 and was upgraded in 2012, when the track, starting gate and stands were improved. The ground belongs to the Semarang Regency Government and is operated with PORDASI. Racing in the area is said to go back to before independence.
It hosts PORDASI national-championship rounds, the annual Jateng Derby and the A.E. Kawilarang Memorial Cup, and it is part of the Triple Crown circuit. Outside race days it works as a training base: jockeys exercise horses in the mornings and evenings, locals watch for free, and admission is charged only during competitions. Stalls and small stable houses surround the track.
