Venue Information

Lapangan Pacu Kuda Sultan Agung

Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta

Sultan Agung is the horse-racing ground attached to the Sultan Agung stadium complex in Bantul, just west of the football stadium. The land was once sugarcane fields of the Madukismo sugar factory. In 2008 PORDASI Yogyakarta and horse owners proposed a national-standard track to the Bantul regent, who approved it. The track was inaugurated in 2007 by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, and open stands on the north, east and south sides followed in 2008.

It is a regular stop on the national PORDASI circuit: the Indonesia Derby, the Pertiwi Cup, the Piala Raja Hamengku Buwono X, Triple Crown Series I and Kejurnas rounds have all been run here, with fields of roughly 150 to 165 horses. Races run on a sand and compacted-soil oval with a west grandstand and a covered VIP area, and national events draw crowds of several thousand people.
